You&#8217;re among family.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"..\/directions\">Here<\/a> at Cavendish Baptist you can find God in a friendly setting. We provide practical teaching to help you apply the Bible to your everyday life. We are people like you, walking with God.<\/p>\n<p>Our service is <strong>fairly traditional, albeit flexible<\/strong>, and usually lasts about an hour. After announcements for the week, we sing a rousing <strong>praise hymn<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>We are then drawn further into worship with an <strong>entire Psalm. <\/strong><strong><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\">Next there is a time where we share good things God has done for us, and can bring concerns that need <\/span><\/strong><strong><strong>prayer<\/strong><\/strong><strong><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\">.\u00a0 Pastor Abraham prays and we sing the<\/span><\/strong><strong> Lord\u2019s Prayer.<\/strong><strong><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\"> On the first Sunday of the month we sing the<\/span><\/strong><strong> Glori Patri<\/strong><strong><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\">, a hymn that dates to the very first generation of Christians. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\">We sing a more <\/span><strong>modern chorus<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\">, or a hymn or two before the children leave for Sunday School and nursery care.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"..\/staff\">Pastor Abraham<\/a> reads o<span style=\"font-weight: normal;\">ur <strong>Bible chapter<\/strong> for the morning, and <\/span>usually <strong>talks about t<strong>he <\/strong><\/strong><strong>passage<\/strong> for 15-20 minutes.\u00a0 You can see what this is like <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCW9DMUslnwUYqhzUW1geZDg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">on YouTube<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\">Then t<\/span>he choir, or a special guest, present a musical offering while we <a href=\"..\/giving\">give back to God<\/a> some of the money God has given us.\u00a0 Afterwards we sing the Common <strong>Doxology<\/strong>, a song from 1674, and give thanks over the offerings.<\/p>\n<p>This is followed by a final hymn and blessing.\u00a0 On the first Sunday of the month we celebrate the Lord\u2019s Supper or Communion, and like every other part of the Sunday service, <strong>your decision to participate is about your relationship with Jesus,<\/strong> more than the particulars of Cavendish Baptist.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Most of us dress casually<\/strong>, but some wear our Sunday \u201cchurch clothes.\u201d\u00a0 The average dress is casual to business casual with exceptions every week.\u00a0 Wear what you will be comfortable in, and we look forward to seeing you <a href=\"..\/directions\">here<\/a>!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>During Covid-19, we made some changes to make the service shorter and safer &#8211; mostly less music.\u00a0 We are slowly resuming our typical format (below).\u00a0 If you&#8217;d like to check us out online, you can watch on Facebook Live.\u00a0 You don&#8217;t need a Facebook account to watch the service.
