About Us

If you’ve been to Cavendish, you know Cavendish Baptist Church. You may have seen our steeple on the town seal, or our traditional building on Main Street. You may have been to a wedding or had a Sunday school experience here. Maybe you’ve heard our chimes during the day, or heard our pastor pray at an event. Whatever the connection, Cavendish Baptist means something to you.

Cavendish Baptist is a church family with more than 200 years of history in Cavendish.  We are people from all walks of life, working on our relationships with God, as individuals and as a congregation. While some of us are new to Vermont, some of us have roots as old as the land. Whatever our background, we have all discovered that God’s presence in our lives is the best, most powerful, all-encompassing aspect of our existence. Do you believe that?

There may be more Baptists in the United States than members of any other denomination, and sometimes it seems there are even more kinds of Baptists. Cavendish Baptist is part of the American Baptist Churches, the denomination that started as the Northern Baptists when slavery split the nation, but we have members from all sorts of spiritual journeys. We affiliate with the greater American Baptist family of Vermont and New Hampshire, and cooperate with all of the area churches.

Cavendish Baptist Church is a branch of God’s family that welcomes everyone to be a part of it. We all need help to become the people God wants us to be, and at Cavendish Baptist we work together towards that goal. We have a variety of established small groups and ministries and are always looking for new ways to serve our congregation and community. We are glad to nurture responses to the calls to action God makes in our lives. More than anything else, that’s what church is about, people in relationship with Jesus, living as called by God.

At Cavendish Baptist, we are more concerned that you have Jesus in your life, than if there’s beer in your refrigerator. Interested? See what you can expect if you visit us on Sunday morning at 10:00 am.
